A pair of Eastern Conference rivals clash on Tuesday night when the Toronto Raptors play host to the Boston Celtics as 4.5-point home favorites on the NBA odds.
Toronto and Boston have emerged as the closest challengers to Golden State on the NBA championship odds this season, but both clubs will be looking to rebound from stunning losses when they hit the floor for Tuesday's game at Scotiabank Arena.
Perched at or near the top of the NBA overall standings since the beginning of the campaign, the Raptors have been rewarded on the NBA playoff odds, where they trail the Warriors as a +750 wager to claim their first-ever title. The Celtics sit third as a +950 bet on the NBA championship odds after making consecutive trips to the Eastern Conference final.
However, the Raptors appeared to
be looking past Orlando in a lopsided 113-98 loss to the Magic as 7-point home
chalk on Sunday, which brought a halt to a 7-0 straight-up run that marked
their longest win streak since late November.
The Celtics meanwhile limp into Toronto after being routed 126-116 in Chicago on Saturday. With its loss to the Bulls as heavy 10-point road chalk on the NBA lines, Boston has fallen to defeat in the first two dates on its current three-game road trip, and has gone 5-7 SU and 4-7-1 against the spread over its past 12 contests away from the friendly confines of TD Garden.
Complicating matters for the Celtics
is their dismal record when battling the rival Raptors at Scotiabank Arena.
Boston has suffered SU losses in seven straight road dates with the Raptors,
and owns a meagre 5-13 SU and 5-12-1 ATS all-time record when visiting Toronto
as an underdog of five or fewer points.
Nuggets Chalk vs. Thunder on
NBA Betting Odds
Elsewhere on the Tuesday NBA betting odds, the surging Denver Nuggets aim for a fifth straight SU win as they host the Oklahoma City Thunder as 3-point favorites.
The Nuggets have continued to be
one of the biggest surprises of the NBA season during their current 4-0 SU run,
capped by a dominating 123-96 win over the visiting Los Angeles Clippers as
9-point favorites Sunday. The club has topped 120 points twice during its
current surge, and remains a close second to Golden State in the Western
Denver has built its fourth
ranked 41-18 overall record on exceptional play at home, where the club has
posted just one SU loss in 20 contests and leads the league with 26 victories.
The Nuggets have also been steady home performers at the sportsbooks, posting
ATS wins in seven of their past eight while racking up an impressive 124.9
points per game.
However, the team has limited opponents to 96 or fewer points in two of three home dates, paying out on the UNDER in those two outings, and bringing a halt to a 9-1 run for the OVER. The Thunder travel to the Mile High City looking to rebound from Saturday's 119-116 loss to Sacramento as 6-point home chalk. Oklahoma City has now dropped two of three overall and three straight ATS, and has produced mixed results on the road, going 5-4 SU and ATS in its past nine such outings.
